There exists a fluid interchange of ideas and information from the natural world to what takes shape on canvas. Themes surrounding the cycles of life weave their way through my work as I draw upon poetry, Zen teachings and information about the natural world. Throughout my life and work, I have immesrsed myself in transfrorming my immediate landscape. While initially my gardens and paintings focused on celebrating what is dazzling the natural world, in recent years my intent shifted to create an environment that also sustains life. Both gardens and paintings share the same effort, to spotlight native plants and biodiversity, to rewild.
With nature as an example, these paintings are both outward and inward looking. Elements from the natural world become metaphors for the inner world of thought and emotion. It is my goal to create paintings that show the brilliance of nature while revealing the human experience.
